Whatis the Relationship Renovation Method?
The Relationship Renovation Method is a structured, research-informed coaching approach designed to help couples strengthen emotional safety, deepen connection, and build lasting intimacy. Created by husband-and-wife team Tarah and EJ Kerwin, this method is informed by attachment science, nervous system regulation, family systems theory, mindfulness, cognitive and relational skill-building, and experiential exercises. The focus is not on diagnosing or treating mental health conditions, but on helping couples understand relational patterns and intentionally shift how they show up for one another.
Who are Tarah and EJ Kerwin?
Tarah and EJ Kerwin are the co-founders of Relationship Renovation Method and the hosts of the Relationship Renovation Podcast, with over 1 million downloads worldwide. As relationship coaches, educators, and partners themselves, Tarah and EJ bring a rare combination of professional experience and lived partnership into their work. Known for their honesty, vulnerability, and practical teaching style, they openly share their own relationship challenges while helping couples develop realistic, sustainable, and deeply human tools.
What makes it differentthat Tarah and EJ coach together?
One of the most unique aspects of Relationship Renovation is that Tarah and EJ coach together in sessions. This co-coaching model allows couples to feel supported from both sides of the relationship dynamic, experience balanced masculine and feminine perspectives, feel emotionally safe and not”sided against,” and witness healthy communication modeled in real time. Many couples share that having a married coaching team present helps them feel deeply understood, regulated, and supported as a couple.
How do coaching sessions work?
Couples coaching sessions are typically held bi-weekly and follow the structured progression of the Relationship Renovation Method. During sessions, couples learn new relationship concepts and tools, practice guided exercises with real-time support, explore relational patterns in a safe way, and review progress and next steps. Between sessions, couples complete intentional at-home exercises that reinforce learning and build momentum.
Do you only work with couples in Tucson?
No. Tarah and EJ support couples globally. While in-person sessions are available in Tucson, Arizona, most Relationship Renovation coaching is offered virtually. This allows couples across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom to access the same level of support, structure, and guidance.
How is relationship coaching differentfrom couples therapy?
Relationship Renovation offers relationship coaching, not psychotherapy. Coaching is educational and experiential in nature, focusing on awareness, skill-building, and intentional relationship growth. While the work is informed by relationship research and attachment theory, coaching does not include diagnosis, mental health treatment, or clinical intervention. Couples who choose coaching are often seeking practical tools and structure, accountability and guidance, a clear roadmap for growth, and a collaborative, future-focused approach.
Most Relationship Renovation coaching programs require a minimum commitment, as meaningful relationship growth takes time and consistency. While every couple’s journey is unique, many couples move through the core stages of the method over approximately 5–9 months. Your coach will help determine a pace that best supports your goals and relational alignment.
